It’s easy to cut corners when building a website to save moola – but in the long run (like most things in life) – you get what you pay for. Follow these 4 important tips when launching your new website in 2017 and you’ll do just fine!
Go with a good hosting company. I have nothing against GoDaddy (which is where most of my clients initially host their websites) but the fact of the matter is, when you go the $5.00 per month route your website is thrown in a bucket with about 300 other websites on the same server. This will BOG YOU DOWN,
and guess what?
Google doesn’t like slow websites. The speed in which your website loads is a key *ranking factor* for Google. So if you’re website is slow, your rankings drop, big time.

Don’t skimp on the design!
There are awesome services out there like Wix.com or Squarespace.com that allow you to click, drag & build your own website. These are awesome tools if you’re on a tight budget. Some of my clients can’t afford a custom website so I often refer them to one of these services. They work just fine,
if you want something custom & unique then you’ll want to hire a pro. Don’t hire an amature that’s only been designing websites for 6 months. Find someone that does this daily because there are a lot of moving parts to a properly developed website.
Design is important. Usability is important. People that browse the web are generally in a hurry so your your first impression is imperative. Make it shine. See some of my web design here.
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is insanely important, and most companies skip right over it.

Over 30,000 websites are hacked daily.
And most site owners never even knew they were hacked. This can happen for a variety of reasons but most commonly it’s due to outdated themes or plugins within WordPress websites.
If you get hacked – Google knows it and they will drop your page rankings like a ton of bricks, and fast.
- Keep your theme & plugins up-to-date!
- Install security software/plugins (such as Wordfence). It’s FREE!
- Use good passwords! – Get some here!
- Don’t give out access to your cPanel, FTP or Website for any reason.
That’s it for now!
